Competitive Team Tryouts / Free Agency

PLAYERS: Competitive Team Tryouts or the official "free agency" period for SCSA teams is June 10 - July 15, 2017.  New tryout listings will be posted by May 15, 2017.  Your age group is determined by your birth year. Players may choose to play a year "up" but no more than two. You do not need to register or "sign up" for tryouts.  You may attend any or all tryouts in your appropriate age groups.

NOTE:  Players born 2010 through 2013 are considered recreational and placed on a team that has openings.  Please email (scsasoccer@sbcglobal.net) your child’s name, date of birth, your name and contact information on or after July 1st.   We will add your child to our open sign-up list looking for a team (placement cannot be guaranteed).  For more information on new players in the SCSA league, please read “New Player or Team to SCSA" under Forms & Documents.

TEAMS: Tryout listing registration forms are due to SCSA by April 15, 2017.  The tryout listing registration form may be found on this website under Forms and Documents.  Clubs and teams are freely able to advertise additional tryouts on their own websites, social media or printed flyers.

Good luck to all on a great tryout season! We look forward to some great soccer in the Fall!

What to Expect at Tryouts

The only age groups allowed to hold tryouts or any other selection process are the U9—U19 boys and girls teams. Tryouts are scheduled by each team/club, not SCSA. Contact the team representative for questions. See the Tryouts Rules & Regulations document for complete details. Formal tryouts are held each summer for the Fall-Spring season.  This "free agency" period is generally early to mid June - July 15th.  Details for tryouts will always be on the front page of our website while they are going on.

Remember to bring a ball, water and shin guards to all tryouts. It is also helpful to wear a shirt with a number.

Expenses you may expect are:
* monthly fees
* uniforms
* training fees
* travel expenses for tournaments.

(Some teams conduct fundraisers to offset these expenses.)

It is your responsibility to ask the coaches what the financial commitment will be.

Note: the location of the tryout is generally the team's practice location.

If you missed the tryout date(s), contact the team representative to determine if positions remain open and discuss with the coach if there is other potential tryout dates available.
